Your brain has an age.
Now you can see it.
A weekly measure of how old your brain appears against your actual age, read directly from EEG. Built on published research, running on Muse's own model, with its error range stated on this page.
"Brains do not age on a schedule. Two people at fifty can have brains that look years apart, and neither of them would know it."
Nadia Kumentas,
Chief Product &
Marketing Officer of Muse

Frequently asked questions FAQ
Which sessions count?
Any eyes-closed Muse session counts toward your daily total, except Sleep and Strength sessions. Sessions can be combined, each one just needs to be at least 2 minutes, adding up to 10 minutes a day.
Why don't I have a Muse Brain Age yet?
Your first reading needs at least 10 minutes of sessions on 7 different days, which don't have to be in a row, plus all 4 Brain Performance tests. The app shows your progress toward both.
Why does my Brain Age change week to week?
A brain age from one session can swing by several years, depending on how rested or stressed you are. Readings typically shift by about 1.9 years from week to week, so give it a few weeks before you read much into any single change.
My brain reads older than I am. Should I worry?
One reading is a snapshot. Brain Age is most useful as your line over time, and none of it is a diagnosis.
Can I lower my Brain Age?
Muse doesn't claim you can. Brain Performance scores improve with practice, which is why they're shown separately, so you can see what moved and why.
Is this a brain-training game?
No. Part of your reading comes from EEG recorded during your sessions, and your brain activity and test results measure different things. Brain Age reads both and shows each one.
Is Muse Brain Age a medical or diagnostic test?
No. Muse Brain Age is a general wellness measure, not a medical device, and it doesn't diagnose, detect, or predict dementia or any other condition. One reading is a snapshot; it's most useful as a line over time. If you're concerned about memory or thinking, talk to a doctor.
Is Muse Brain Age backed by science?
Yes. Muse Brain Age is built on a 2024 peer-reviewed study in Imaging Neuroscience (Banville et al., 2024), using more than 5,200 at-home Muse recordings, which found brain age could be estimated from consumer EEG within the range reported for lab-grade equipment.
Does Brain Age work with my Muse?
Yes, all Muse headbands including Muse S, Muse 2 and Muse S Athena support Muse Brain Age.
